Volunteer in India – iSPiiCE (Integrated Social Programs in Indian Child Education)
iSpiice (Integrated Social Programs In Indian Child Education) is a humanitarian organisation supported by volunteers across the world to improve the lives of families especially women and children in Dharamsala’s rural villages. More than 72% of India’s population resides in country villages where poverty, gender inequalities and lack of education remain constant barriers for development. Given the beauty, serenity and spiritual atmosphere of the area, His Holiness the Dalai Lama holds residency in Dharamsala. Our volunteers also appreciate the peacefulness of our location.
Varun Verma founded iSpiice in 2008 when he returned to the villages where he was raised to find little forward development in more than a decade. Disheartened by India’s progress in rural areas and inspired by his years of working in the slums of Mumbai, Delhi and Goa he developed specific community programs to assist the villages in North India.
Five years on iSpiice’s holistic approach has allowed hundreds of international volunteers to make a genuine difference to locals via sustainable community projects. From taking English classes and computer classes to working in the slums and sponsoring children to go to school iSpiice and volunteers have provided compassion, opportunities and support to the undeveloped communities.
