Phones
Before departure set up roaming on your mobile phone to enable international calls. Alternatively after arrival you can purchase an Indian SIM card, you will need 2 passport sized photos and a copy of your passport and Indian visa and call rates are much lower than in other countries. Local internet cafes provide international phone call services.
Internet
Internet facilities are available at the iSPiiCE volunteering in India base camp and internet cafes located nearby. These will also be useful for help with lesson planning.
ATM (cash machines)
ATM machines are available in all visited locations throughout your project. Food, accommodation, excursions and general transfers are included in the cost of your program however you will need some additional spending money for personal expenses and the occasional restaurant meal. ATMs are the most convenient way to access funds throughout your stay.
Post
There is a large post office in Dharamsala town for sending postcards or parcels home or anywhere nationally or internationally.
Medical
All major urban centers in India have world class medical health facilities. There are two hospitals in Dharamsala town in case of an emergency and outpatient clinics situated nearby iSPiiCE base camp for smaller ailments.
Bus
National bus services leave from Dharamsala, McLeod Ganj and Kangra. These can be used for onward travel after the volunteer project to cities throughout north India. A frequent local bus service operates in the area as well as local taxi services which can be used for connections between local towns and villages during free time.
