Extra-Curricular Activities
| Work Commitment |
iSPiiCE volunteering in India run after school
groups which are a great way to interact with the children in a less formal setting and a wider range of subjects are taught improving their holistic educational development. Example lessons and activities are reading groups, arts and crafts, dance, drama and sports.
Whatever extra-curricular activity you may do with such as story telling, singing or giving knowledge about your own culture, it involves talking in English and provides practice for the students. Most of the children are at a basic level and require to learn more about things in their daily life , such as parts of the body or describing the weather or for more advanced students they require extra practice to improve their English language conversational skills.
Community Visits and Involvements
iSPiiCE volunteer programs
work at a grass roots level with local rural Indian communities which naturally involves daily exposure to Indian cultural rules, customs and traditions. Indian hospitality is legendary, and the fact you are coming to offer assistance ensures you will be warmly welcomed into the community.
"The time I spent in India has changed my life forever. The people of iSPiiCE were some of the most caring and generous people I have ever met. It was an honor to be able to work alongside them, teaching and also learning from the children of Dharamsala."
Lauryn Feske, USA - iSPiiCE volunteer India 2011
Free time
When not working or on weekend excursions, volunteers have plenty of time to explore the local countryside, towns and villages and to pursue their own hobbies and interests. Some volunteers enjoy walking (in preparation for their trek!), playing sports with the local community, visiting the local markets - and soaking up the atmosphere at Indian bazaars, or planning trips together to local areas of interest.
